Carly Sioux - who has written 22 posts on the Whiskey Dregs.
After almost a decade of creating conceptually staged photography inspired by the likes of Cindy Sherman and Nan Goldin, Carly Sioux has shifted her direction from the theatrically assembled sets, to the more dramatic, “in the moment” driven work. Carly’s most recent photography explores the use of available light and painting with flash. While under the alias of Ragazza Paparazza, she documents some of the most up and coming talent arising out of Brooklyn’s Avant-garde music scene. Carly’s aim is to capture the core essence of a live performance punctuated by intimacy, dynamics and more often than not spontaneity. Carly has been featured in variety of editorials such as: New York Magazine, Plan B (UK), Bass Notes, Time Out, Wire Media (UK), City Beat and Culture Catch. Along with her photography blog paparazza.net, Carly has also featured her “Misses and Mistress” and “Polaroid Pinup” photography series in New York City at Hotel QT hosted by projekt: nyc. In the future, Carly hopes to ever further push her work and help visualize the sounds of our era.
